       Jerome Goodman, using the penname “Adam Smith,” publishes The Money Game, chapter five, of which, advances his thesis that money can be any medium of exchange agreed upon by society:

        [T]he Federal Reserve creates money all the time.  It just waves its wand of bill purchases and … presto, there is money where there was none before. .. [A]nd the Fed doesn’t even have to take the money from somewhere else in order to put that money into the banking system. .. [M]aybe the members of the Federal Reserve Board feel guilty as hell.
