A lawfully elected Senate (in accordance with Article I, Section 3 [Clause 1]) forwards on to the House of Representatives a proposed amendment to the Constitution for the united States, requiring that the President and Vice President of the united States be from the same political party.
NOTE: Federalist (nationalist) Senator James Hillhouse, of Connecticut, argued against the amendment, claiming that having the President and Vice President from opposing political factions would be an additional check against abuse of power.
