       George III (r. 1760 – 1776, in the colonies; died 1820) lends his assent to the Indemnity Act of 1767, reducing excise taxes on tea imported by the British East India Company to the point that it could undercut the colonial market for smuggled Dutch colonial tea.

       George III (r. 1760 – 1776, in the colonies; died 1820) lends his assent to the New York Restraining Act, suspending the legislature of the colony of New York until it complies with the Quartering Act, which requires the colonies to provide bed and board to British troops posted there.
