1660/04/04

       Exiled Charles II (a secret Catholic, r. 1649 – 1651, in Scotland; 1660 – 1685, in England and Scotland) issues the Declaration of Breda, pledging that there will be no retaliation against those who murdered his father, Charles I (a Presbyterian, r. 1625 – 1649) if they recognize him as king.
