Republican (fascist/socialist) President Reagan signs the Social Security Act of 1983, accelerating the massive SS tax increase that he criticized while running for President.  The act also requires all new Federal employees (French for “government workers”) be to pay into SS.

NOTE: For the first time SS benefits are taxed as income: SS is taxed when workers pay into the system, and taxed again when they receive benefits as retirees.
