The Battle of Stow-on-the-Wold: Major General William Brereton (a Congregationalist), commanding the (Puritan) New Model Army, defeats the last remaining royalist army, commanded by Jacob Astley, Baron of Reading (an Anglican).
NOTE: This was the last battle of the First English Civil War.
