Emissaries of the “Long” (Fourth) Parliament of Charles I present the king with the Grand Remonstrance, a list of 204 complaints against his violations of the Magna Carta, among which are:

• The continued appointments of clergy to the House of Lords;
• The sales of lands confiscated from Irish rebels; and
• The absolute right to make appointments without parliamentary confirmation.
