In a general court-martial at the United states Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, in Twentynine palms, california hands down United states v. Schwartz: judge Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth B. Martin (private mercenary) sentences Lance Corporal Jared Schwartz to a rank reduction to private, forfeiture of two-thirds pay, 30 days in jail, and a Bad Conduct discharge for refusing an untested anthrax vaccination. Schwartz’ attorney was prepared to call 48 expert witnesses to testify that the efficacy of the vaccines is unproven, but Martin ruled their testimony as inadmissible. The only issue to be argued was whether Schwartz received the vaccine.
