Operation Lam Son 719 begins: At the direction of the United states Armed Forces, the Army of the kleptocratic Republic of (South) Vietnam, invades Laos in an effort to cut the “Ho Chi Minh Trail,” on which military supplies are transferred from the communist Democratic Republic of (North) Vietnam to the Viet Cong guerillas in South Vietnam.
