       The “Summer of Discontent” continues: In Newark, new jersey, While the United states Armed Forces (private mercenaries) are in Vietnam, “united in … determination to take all necessary measures in support of freedom,” John DeSimone and Vito Pontrelli, city police officers, arrest John W. Smith, for driving his taxicab around their double-parked squad car.  Smith is subsequently beaten and charged with assault on a police officer.

       Postscript: Six days later racially based rioting had led to the deaths of 26 U.s. subject/enemy/citizen and 10,000,000 “dollars” worth of property damage.
