The Utah War continues: Major Lot Smith, commanding the Militia the federal enclave of Utah, raids the Utah Expedition, commanded by Colonel Albert Sidney Johnston, of the Army of the united States, destroying 72 wagons. Johnston was escorting Governor-designate Alfred Cumming, to assume the office from Governor Brigham Young.
