The Revolutions of ‘48 continue: Klemens Wenzel Nepomuk Lothar, Prince of Metternich-Winneburg, Chancelor of the Austrian Empire, resigns due to peasant uprisings over land rights, economic recession and food shortages.

NOTE: This marked Austria’s transition from absolute to constitutional monarchy.

The Electorate of Wisconsin ratifies its Constitution, Article I.  Section 3 of which states, “The [J]ury shall have the right to determine the law and the facts.”

Of course; this is the reason why Trial by Jury is a requirement of the Constitution.  Juries have the supreme power to nullify bad statutes, if the statute’s execution would, in the jury’s opinion, render an injustice.  –– JL
