The Anglo-American War begins: The Republican (constitutionalist) 11th Constitutional Congress (elected in accordance with Article I, Section 3 [Clause 1]) declares war against the United Kingdom, with the goal of seizing British North America (Canada).
NOTES:
- The provocation for war was the UK’s Orders in Council that authorized the seizure of united States merchant ships that were trading with France.
- These Orders in Council were repealed two days later.
