       Republican (constitutionalist) President Jefferson signs the Indian Trade and Non-Intercourse Act, prohibiting the acquisition of indi(genous Americ)an lands by State sovereign Citizens of European heritage, except by treaty; and exempting tribal lands from being subject to State law.
