       The French Revolution continues: The 786-member, unicameral National Convention, of the Kingdom of France, convenes. 

       NOTE: The NC was the first legislature to be elected by universal male suffrage.

       The Battle of Valmy: During the First French Revolutionary War, Lieutenant General Francois-Etienne-Christophe Kellermann, commanding the Army of the Centre of the Kingdom of France, defeats the armies of the first allied coalition, commanded by Charles William Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick.
