The First French Revolutionary War begins: The Legislative Assembly, of the Kingdom of France, seeks to export its proto-republican revolution by declaring war against the Empire of Austria.

       Postscript: Over the next ten years France expanded its list of adversaries to include the Dutch Republic, Great Britain/the United Kingdom, the Holy Roman Empire, the Ottoman Empire, Portugal, Prussia, the Russian Empire, Spain and the united States.
