Charleston, South Carolina retailers and wholesalers sign a Non-Importation Agreement pledging not to purchase imported coal, salt, slaves or wine until the parliamentary imposed trade monopoly, cutting off colonial commerce with the world is repealed.
Postscript: The NIA was largely successful. After a two-year standoff, Parliament gave the colonies most of what it had been asking for.
