The Battle of St. Fagans (Wales): Colonel Thomas Horton (a Congregationalist) commanding 2,700 troops of the (Puritan) New Model Army defeats 8,000 royalist militiamen commanded by Major General Rowland Laugharne (a Presbyterian).
NOTE: Concerns over the unchecked power of the NMA caused most of their supporters to switch their allegiances and support Charles I (a Presbyterian, r. 1625 – 1649).
